Jillian GreisMy early dance education began at Lowe Dance Studio and Southern New Jersey Academy of Performing Arts [thanks for forcing me into ballet class Ma]. After deciding to pursue dance professionaly, I attended Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet’s rigorous training program. There, under the direction of Marcia Dale Weary, I realized my passion for teaching.

My teaching is heavily influenced by Marcia. It involves introducing the technical elements of ballet slowly and strategically. My method not only ensures my students are technically proficient, but works to inspire confidence by breaking down each step, creating many attainable goals. In this way, children have frequent small successes as well as an in depth knoweldge of technique. The fun students have in ballet class should be fueled by their own successes, creating a cycle of hard work, mastery, and intrinsic reward that works to inspire further success, not only in ballet, but in any endeavor my students choose to pursue.
In addition to teaching, I am pursuing a degree in Psychology at Harvard University with which I hope to better understand the creative process and how to foster creative genius as well as to contribute to closing the race and gender gaps in creative achievement.
